Our mission is to disciple individuals to become disciple makers that change the community around them. We do this by faithfully sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and exegetically teaching the scriptures.

Ronald Brent “R.B.” Mays has been connected to the ministry of this church since the day his was born, being raised here by his parents Ron & Norma Mays. He accepted the Lord as his Savior here on November 13, 1977 at the age of 8. He graduated from Graves County High School and chose to attend Bethel College. As a sophomore Bethel, he surrendered to the call to vocationally preach the Word, announcing it publicly here in November 15, 1988. Although this church left the Cumberland Presbyterian denomination in 1982, R.B. began pastoring Zion C.P. Church outside of McKenzie, TN and felt the call to pursue ordination within the CP denomination. With a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and math, and a Master of Arts in teaching degree from Bethel, he began teaching HS math in Big Sandy, TN. After almost 4 years at Zion, and a year teaching, he felt the direction to complete his Master of Divinity degree full time. He stayed there 5 years and completed the M.Div. as well as a Master of Theology in World Mission and Evangelism. He was ordained by Cumberland Presbytery of the C.P. Church on July 23, 1995.
In 1998 he re-entered the education field for what has been a career as a math teacher and coach in the Logan County, Warren County, and Todd County Schools systems. During that period he served 3 1/2 years as pastor of the Gasper River and Bald Knob congregations, and a year as interim pastor of Mt Olivet CP Church. He also completed his Rank 1 in K-12 principalship and the coursework for a PhD in K-12 Educational Leadership at Western KY University during that time.
The door opened, and he came home as assistant principal at Graves County High School in 2004. He became principal of GCHS in 2009 and the district finance officer in 2012. In 2015, he accepted a position as K-12 principal at Fulton Independent School. In 2018, he returned to the HS math classroom at Ballard Memorial and continues in that role. He additionally became district athletic director in 2021.
He began serving this church vocationally in February, 2004 as interim pastor. In August of that year, he also became youth minister. He continued as interim pastor for 26 months, and as youth pastor for 13 years. He completed his dissertation and was awarded his PhD in 2011. He is a member of Covenant Presbytery and has served as moderator, camp director for 3 years, for 9 years on the Committee on the Ministry, and he is currently on the Board of Missions.
R.B. is passionate about the church’s call to be salt and light for the Kingdom, as well as to be change agents in our community. He believes we are called to relational ministry, and that we are to give and serve as an outflow of the gratitude we express for the grace of God extended to us through Christ.
He is an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, a UK basketball and football fan, and he raises Bernese Mountain Dogs.

I was raised here in the small city of Wingo. My beautiful wife, Kayla, and I graduated high school together and later married in 2012. Shortly thereafter, we began attending Wingo Old Cumberland Presbyterian Church. We both graduated from Murray State University and stayed in the area to build our lives and family together. We have been blessed with three children; Emma, Rhett, and Tripp.
In 2019, Kayla and I both felt the LORD calling us to the role of youth leaders. We do not believe we are necessarily equipped for this position, but rather, we recognize the urgent need for this generation and future generations to experience Jesus Christ and the love of God. Both of us agree a great work can be done through today's youth.
Kayla and I both work full-time and our children are always on the go. When I'm not spending time with my family, I enjoy sports (mainly baseball and basketball), going to flea markets and antique stores, and studying history.
